"I’ve been a pupil at DS1 since 1986. I arrived after looking for a new school when my previous ballet teacher emigrated and I’ve never left!

I’m proud to still be a pupil all these years later. In the early years I continued with my ballet exams and improved my technique and ability enormously under Alison Bennett’s expert tuition. I was introduced to tap, modern jazz and theatre craft also, achieving exam success in these areas, despite being an older pupil. These days dancing keeps me fit, my brain agile and keeps me trim now I’m in my 40’s. The studio is a great friendly place where people of all ages and abilities attend and who love to dance. I strongly believe that dancing helps to keep you young.

My daughter joined the Studio when she was nearly 3 and is now a senior. She’s loved going to dancing and has made strong friendships with her fellow pupils sharing fun times, hard work and successes. I was so proud to see her dance in December’s show with the rest of the girls in her class. It’s great to see their progress over the years and see them perform with such maturity, style and technique. It’s wonderful what can be achieved with commitment and dedication, with excellent teaching and support.

It’s really important for young people to have something outside of school, somewhere to keep fit, have fun and learn new skills and DS1 is the best place to do this"!

"Dance Studio 1 is a warm, safe place where you are immediately made to feel welcome and a part of its family. Throughout the 14 years I have spent there, I have not only grown as a dancer in ballet, tap, modern jazz and theatre craft, but also as a person. This of course is all down to the hard work, drive and dedication that is shown by studio owner and teacher Miss Bennett.

By being a part of the studio I have been able to participate in exams, perform in the spectacular end of year shows, every other year, and after passing my ballet grades I am now practicing intermediate ballet. Along with some of the other girls in my class I also help out with the younger classes on Friday after college which has helped me progress further and has also given me skills by working with the children.

All ages are welcome, I was the third generation in my family to join, my Grandma dancing in the ladies tap class until she was 67. It is a happy, fun environment that gives you memories that you will take with you always. I would recommend Dance Studio 1 a thousand times over".

"I've been attending classes at Dance Studio 1 for 8 years now, and despite being a late starter, I feel I have caught up very well as I have completed both ballet and tap grades and I am currently working towards taking part in higher examinations.

Miss Bennett is a fantastic teacher who knows exactly how to help you maintain your strengths and improve on your weaknesses; I have built up so much confidence by her encouragement. The show that takes place every two years is always spectacular.

I’ve been helping with the younger classes on a Saturday for 6 years now so I have had the opportunity to see and be a part of the hard work and constant effort that goes into putting on such a big production - it doesn’t happen over night! And Miss Bennett puts her everything into making it something to remember.

I have always felt welcome at the studio and everyone is so lovely, I am often there 4 times a week! Despite being at university and studying full time, dancing has never been a problem to fit into my routine; it’s a place to see friends, dance and have fun!

"I have been going to DS1 since I was 3 and I'm now 16. I have absolutely loved every minute of it. Not only have I learnt how to dance and pass exams with excellent results, but I've gained confidence, gained a sense of achievement and commitment, had chance to perform in excellent fun shows and been given the chance to help with the younger classes every Saturday! DS1 is like a big family and I couldn't imagine not being a part of it. It has a friendly fun environment and Miss Bennett is an amazing helpful teacher. "I have danced at Dance Studio 1 for the past 19 years and I have loved every minute of it. Miss Bennett is a fantastic teacher and excellent at improving children's confidence and making every child feel valued. The shows are never anything less than fabulous and something that every child remembers for ever! The studio maintains a 100% pass rate in all exams taken and the children progress, in not just their dance ability, but their confidence, ability to make new friends and ability to learn in a different style from their school education.

My attendance over the many years helped me get on my preferred ALevel courses and onto a teacher training degree. Furthermore, it played a big part in me getting my dream job as a Primary School teacher because people were impressed with the length of time and dedication I had shown to this hobbie.
